Vision

Mission
The mission of the Department of Islamic Studies is to present Islam as manifested in the Holy Quran and Sunnah while fostering a comprehensive understanding of Islamic history, primary texts, and the dynamics of global Muslim communities. The department is dedicated to addressing regional and global issues of the Islamic world and exploring the diverse histories of Islam across the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, and Europe.
The department aims to equip students with the skills necessary for careers in legislation, research, management, teaching, and Islamic banking. Through academic activities, it seeks to promote Islamic values such as tolerance, brotherhood, unity, moderation, broad-mindedness, and compassion. By encouraging critical thinking, lifelong learning, and the pursuit of advanced knowledge, the department prepares graduates to achieve high-level professional objectives and assume leadership roles in diverse fields.
Introducation
The Department of Islamic Studies is one of the foremost academic components of Government College University, Faisalabad. The subject of Islamic Studies was introduced in the 1955-56 academic year with the name “Deeniyat". Mr. M. Abdullah Kamil and Prof. Iftikhar Ahmad Chishti played an important role as pioneer teachers of the department. Later on, the Department of Islamic Studies was established in 1985, where leading academicians served the department. The alumni of this department have been serving in various institutions in the country and abroad. Presently, the department is offering four programs in Islamic Studies, including BS, MPhil, and PhD. A research journal titled “Zia-e-Tahqeeq” (HEC Recognized) has also been launched for quality research. Furthermore, the “Rahmatul-lil-Alameen Chair” for studying Seerah and the “Tasawwuf Study Center” have been established in the department for promoting moral values, harmony, and peace in society. The department has organized many national and international conferences and workshops on various topics, including Quranic Studies, Hadith and Seerah Studies, Interfaith Dialogue and harmony, Sufism, and Muslim culture and history.
